China's automakers may dominate their home market, not the world's. Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Corp. ranks 10th among China's automakers, who are looking for a short cut to the global market by snapping up assets from distressed Western giants such as General Motors Co. The Chinese generally churn out low-end cars for the booming domestic market and lack the technology and management and marketing expertise to handle global brands. "Their products are focused on the low-end market and cannot meet requirements of the western world, such as Europe," said Zhang Jing, an analyst at Phillip Securities. "They can't even get an entrance permit and there's still a long way to go." Analysts reckon Chinese car makers are still 5-10 years behind their global rivals in terms of technology, and it would take even longer to build strong brands with appeal for sophisticated Western buyers.

The last Pontiacs -- 2010 G6 sedans -- move down the line Wednesday at General Motors Orion Assembly in Orion Township.

Orion Township -- The ride is over for the brand that put rolling excitement on the road for generations of Americans.

General Motors Co. built the last Pontiac for the U.S. market Wednesday: a white, G6 sedan that rolled off the assembly line in Orion Township around 12:45 p.m.

There was no cake or commemorative banner or senior GM official on hand, and no media were allowed: just a group of "final process" workers to oversee the last 100 G6 models assembled.

Many workers stopped to pose for photos with the last cars as they moved down the assembly line.

I am a great friend of Carfax

We do spend a lot of time together. I  bought close to 2000 vehicles in 2009. I always depend on Carfax before making any buying decision. I will never buy a vehicle with out seeing a Carfax. Another buyer once said to me "oh what..... ever" I said "You just keep buying without checking and I will keep looking at my Carfax before every purchase and we will see who wins this race. This is a dream come true for me as a buyer and for you as a consumer. Some Carfax will list all Service history for the vehicle you are buying. You can see oil changes and repairs that were done to the vehicle. If the car was in an accident it will list the accident like "hit in the rear" or "ran off the road and hit a mailbox" or "hit a deer" I even have one that says "hit an innocent by stander" I bet he was not a stander after that. He was flat on the ground.  Sometimes it will say "hit in the front end" That would not feel to good would it, those always concern me. Not only for humans but also cars. Truly because the engine and the steering and suspension are up front. That would be like getting hit in the head with a baseball bat real hard and acting like your fine. Your not. Make sure you get the vehicle inspected by an auto repair shop before buying to make sure it was put back together right. I love carfax more than anyone, even carfax.

USED CAR PRICES HAVE FALLEN (YEAH)

Most people have been shocked at the Used Car prices the last few months. A good used car was up around $1500 per unit. When I am talking about a used car I am speaking of cars that a consumer would purchase for around $6,000 to $15,000. They could not understand why they could not buy the eight grand car for five thousand, of course they want to buy smart like I do (ha) every day. (today I purchased 17 cars alone) The last couple weeks used cars have come down in price like they always do this time of year. The next 4 months is one of the best times to buy a used car. In March cars will creep back up like they always do before spring. You can get a great pick of cars this time of year. In the spring and fall many of the nice cars are gone before you get to the lot, that's why now is a great time to shop. We had another record month at Elhart and are continuing to find great used cars at true affordable prices. Most people stop by the lot and are so impressed at how clean and serviced our cars are. They are usually a much nicer unit than many of the cars that the customer has already looked at or are comparing to. Well, have fun shopping and don't forget all the great tools you have at your finger tips. Make it a great day. Its a great day at Elhart.
